Patricia McAteer
Colouring Studio
Patricia McAteer
My work is contemporary visual in acrylic mixed
media and semi precious stones. I work on Irish Celtic
Legends, mythology, Dolmens, Standing Stones and
Circles. Vibrant colour and texture is hugely important
to my work. I grind semi precious stones and add
the powder and grains to paint and texture medias,
along with the semi precious stones themselves. This
gives my work extra movement, depth and energy.
The stones help me show the nature, colour and
vibrations of our earth and mythology.
Directions
From Dublin: Dundalk exit at the Ballymascanlon
roundabout and take the R173 to Omeath. Just past
the speed limit sign into the village (pass Tain Centre
on right) take the first lane to the left. At fork take the
right and follow on. I am at the top of the second hill.
From Newry city pass the Quays shopping Centre
on the canal side and follow the canal into Omeath
on the R173. Go through the crossroads and past the
speed limit sign. Turn up the lane as above.
Places of interest nearby
Clontigora Court is close to the fantastic viewpoint
at the Flag Staff about 4 miles from Omeath Village
on the Newry side, showing the lough and Mournes
for miles around. On the Dundalk side of the
peninsula in the grounds of the Ballymascanlon Hotel
is another Dolmen called Proleek. In the summer
months you can take a ferry ride across the Lough to
Warrenpoint, eat in Rosa’s Café, the Granvue Hotel
and Cornamucklagh House.
