Patricia Murphy is an internationally exhibited artist whose work includes paintings, public art installations and contemporary rugs. She graduated from The National college of Art and design in Dublin in 1993 and has created a significant body of commissioned work for Government and Corporate clients as well as for many private homes. Her paintings are in private collections all over the world. Inspired by nature, myth, science and music, this art plays with space, illusion, and perspective. It is driven by the contradiction of creating movement and finding stillness. A slow and considered process, the paintings use mixed media and constructed collage to build up layers of glowing colour. Abstract in approach, colour is used as a way to visualise the energy of nature. Patricia‘s work has been exhibited internationally including in the UK, France, USA, Germany, Italy and Finland.
In 2013 and ‘15 she represented Ireland in the Sant’ Antioco Biennale of Painting in Italy. Patricia was acknowledged for her contribution to the arts in Ireland by Irish President Mary McAlesse (2008).
