
Louise Studied Art and Textile Design in GMIT where she specialised in printed Textiles
she has worked in various aspects of textiles from knitwear, weaving and costume.
In her spare time Louise loved experimenting with different forms of textiles in particular the ancient art of batik, she developed her own style combining batik art with silk painting the free nature and vibrancy of colour on silk suited her artistic style.
In 2009 Louise decided to set up her own business specializing in hand painted hangings and framed pictures she also developed a range of silk scarves and shawls inspired by the Celtic art and the stone carvings at New grange giving Celtic heritage a contemporary twist.
With a love of nature Louise has added a garden bird range to her silk scarves for all those bird lovers out there.
Based in Swallow Studios in County Monaghan Louise has collaborated with fellow artisan Liz Christy on a series of commissions for Credit Unions and schools featuring large Heritage Wall hangings.
The combination of silk art and hand weaving has a surprising and dramatic effect.
Louise has also completed a large commission piece in silk for the folk choir of Notre Dame University in Indiana.
Since 2016 Louise has been doing silk painting weekends up in An Grianan and this year hopes to offer silk painting classes at Swallow Studios as part of The Swallow Studio experience.
