I am a self – employed wood turner based in Mullaghbane, Co Armagh, nestled in the valleys of the Ring Of Gullion. I am advocate for sustainability and respecting our shared environment and use only naturally felled wood in my work. I have just planted a native woodland surrounding my studio of over 22000 trees where I provide outdoor learning experiences.
Having trained over the past 20 years in wood working and training with renowned woodturning masters I reached the stage of my practice where I can now pass these skills on to others. I facilitate individual and group training in my custom equipped workshop offering one day or residential workshops. I have had students from across the world come to learn a new skill and take home a piece of art.
I am a founding member of ROGHA – the Ring Of Gullion Handcrafts and Art group which is a working collective of designers, artists and makers based in the Ring Of Gullion since 2014. As a collective we take part in many council led events translating the legends and lore of South Armagh to the public through art and culture. We exhibit widely.
Each piece I make is unique and tells its own story. History and legend is often imbued into every piece of wood that leaves my workshop.
