Sharon Donnelly works out of her studio in Mullaghbawn. Inspired by the majestic backdrop of Slieve Gullion, the play of light is a quality Sharon strives to explore in her paintings. Her work reflects life in her native South Armagh and recently Sharon has been drawn to old derelict dwellings. This has inspired her to create a new series of still life oil paintings. “ I want the viewer to think about who lived there and prompt them to reminisce about their own roots and childhood memories of growing up in a rural setting. I see glorious colour everywhere I go and colour has always been an integral part of my work. Focussing on the layering and sculpting of vibrant colours is how I breathe life into my subjects”
